These country summaries draw on official pages and clearly labelled search listings. The programme research desk provides published tuition and dates. Individual admission decisions, fee exceptions and visa eligibility depend on the applicable requirements. This is a dated editorial review, not a live sync of every university catalogue.

France / Admissions
Find the procedure that applies to you
Applicants resident in India should begin with Campus France India. The application route depends on the programme and institution; an admission offer does not automatically complete the pre-consular steps.
France / Programmes
University, degree and teaching language
Use Campus France’s programme resources, the institution’s own course page and our source-linked examples. Check the exact track, qualification, prerequisites, language evidence and current application calendar.
France / Costs
Check your actual 2026–27 fee category
APPLIES · 2026–2027 academic year
Public registration fees, differentiated non-EU fees, exemptions and private-school tuition are different categories. Confirm your personal fee and any exemption in writing with the institution; a low public headline fee is not a universal offer.
France / Scholarships
Eiffel 2027 and university funding
APPLIES · 2027 scholarship campaign
Campus France lists a 2027 Eiffel call. French institutions submit nominations; students should contact the institution about selection and its earlier internal deadline. Do not treat funding as secured until awarded.
France / Visa
Use the official visa assistant
France-Visas determines the relevant category and document list from your circumstances. Longer study can require a long-stay student visa with arrival formalities. Follow your local application instructions.
France / Work & graduation
Student employment is supplementary
The official student guidance states a general annual work limit of 964 hours for foreign students, with nationality exceptions including different rules for Algerian nationals. This does not guarantee a job or fund an entire study budget.
France / After graduation
Research or business-creation permission
Eligible non-European graduates of specified French qualifications can seek a one-year job-search or business-creation permission. Qualification, timing, current status and nationality-specific agreements determine the applicable route.
France / Arrival & housing
Prepare for everyday life in France
Confirm housing through a trusted provider, read the tenancy and cancellation terms, and check deposits before payment. Prepare insurance, enrolment, immigration arrival formalities, emergency contacts and a first-month budget with your institution’s international office.
France / India-specific funding
France Excellence Charpak
APPLIES · 2026 Master scholarship results finalised
Charpak is the French government scholarship programme in India. The official Master scholarship listing says 2026 results have been finalised. Check the next published call and its eligibility rather than treating the 2026 competition as open.
France / Housing resources
CROUS, Visale and housing assistance
Campus France explains student housing options, rental guarantees and CAF assistance. Availability and eligibility differ: check the housing provider, Visale and CAF directly before including assistance in your budget.
Start with the subject
Compare course content, academic prerequisites and teaching language before choosing an institution.
Build the whole budget
Include tuition, housing, deposits, transport, food and arrival costs. Do not assume a scholarship will be awarded.
Find your application route
The institution, degree, nationality and country of residence can affect the route. Check your local Campus France office.
Prepare for everyday France
Consider campus location, accommodation, transport and French language learning alongside your studies.
Your support does not end at the offer letter
Once you have an offer, arrival brings its own practical questions. Plan your transition with our Settle in France support.
Independent guidance, clearly scoped
Althéa is not a university representative. Any partner-supported application assistance is described before work begins; admission, scholarships and visas are decided by the relevant institutions and authorities and cannot be guaranteed.
