United States / Admissions
Follow the five-step research process
EducationUSA structures preparation around researching options, financing study, completing applications, the student visa and departure. Universities determine entry requirements and deadlines.
United States / Programmes
Match the department and curriculum
Compare the actual degree, research options, campus and qualification requirements. Read each institution’s international admissions instructions rather than assuming one national minimum test score or intake deadline.
United States / Costs
Use the institution’s published cost of attendance
Build a budget from tuition, fees, housing, insurance and travel. Use the school’s international-student financial requirements; there is no universal tuition price for a US degree.
United States / Scholarships
Institution-specific aid and assistantships
EducationUSA signposts international financial-aid opportunities. Ask each institution about eligible awards, assistantships, the separate application and renewal conditions. Availability differs by course and degree level.
United States / Visa
Acceptance, SEVIS and the visa application
The official student-visa instructions identify Form I-20 and the DS-160 confirmation among the required evidence. Follow SEVIS-fee and embassy instructions for your F-1 or other applicable category. Admission does not guarantee visa issuance.
United States / Work & graduation
Get the correct employment authorisation
Discuss on-campus work, curricular practical training and optional practical training with your designated school official before accepting work. STEM extensions require additional eligibility and authorisation; a course title alone is not enough.
United States / After graduation
STEM OPT requires a training plan
A STEM OPT extension has a 24-month regulatory framework with additional eligibility. The student and employer must complete the applicable Form I-983 training plan and follow DSO and employment-authorisation requirements.
United States / Arrival & housing
Prepare for everyday life in the USA
Confirm housing through a trusted provider, read the tenancy and cancellation terms, and check deposits before payment. Prepare insurance, enrolment, immigration arrival formalities, emergency contacts and a first-month budget with your institution’s international office.
